Quick answer

**CoreProtect** logs every block broken and placed on the server. To roll back grief, turn on `inspect` mode and click to find the culprit, use `lookup` to investigate and run `rollback` filtered by player, radius and time. The world returns to its state before the damage.

## What CoreProtect is[](https://streethosting.com.br/en/guides/minecraft/coreprotect-rollback-grief-minecraft#o-que-e-coreprotect)

CoreProtect is a logging and rollback plugin. It records everything that happens in the world: who placed and who broke each block, who opened chests and who interacted with what. With that history you can investigate incidents and undo damage without restoring a whole backup. It works very well next to [WorldGuard](https://streethosting.com.br/en/guides/minecraft/worldguard-minecraft-setup): WorldGuard prevents, while CoreProtect repairs.

## Installation[](https://streethosting.com.br/en/guides/minecraft/coreprotect-rollback-grief-minecraft#instalacao)

1. Download the jar for the version that matches your server build.
2. Drop it in the `plugins` folder and restart.
3. Check the console to confirm the database was created without errors.
4. From that moment on, logging is active.

CoreProtect only sees what happened after it was installed. So add the plugin on day one of the server, before any grief happens.

## Investigating with inspect and lookup[](https://streethosting.com.br/en/guides/minecraft/coreprotect-rollback-grief-minecraft#investigar)

Inspect mode turns clicks into queries: you hit a block and see its history. Lookup runs a broader search by player, time and radius. Together they tell you who did what and when, before you decide on a punishment.

| Command | What it does |
| -------- | ---------------------------------- |
| inspect | Click blocks and see their history |
| lookup | Search actions by player and time |
| rollback | Revert actions to an earlier state |
| restore | Undo a rollback applied by mistake |

## Undoing damage with rollback[](https://streethosting.com.br/en/guides/minecraft/coreprotect-rollback-grief-minecraft#rollback)

Once you have found the griefer, the rollback undoes the damage. Give it their name, the radius of the affected area and how many hours to go back. The builds return to their earlier state without touching what other players did, as long as you filter correctly.

Typed the command wrong and rolled back too much? Restore undoes the rollback. Always test on a small radius before applying it to a whole base.

## Defense strategy[](https://streethosting.com.br/en/guides/minecraft/coreprotect-rollback-grief-minecraft#estrategia)

* CoreProtect installed from day one
* WorldGuard protecting spawn and key areas
* Ban applied only after confirming with inspect
* Automatic backup as the third layer

The ideal defense has three layers: prevent with WorldGuard, revert with CoreProtect and, as a last resort, restore from [backup and restore](https://streethosting.com.br/en/guides/minecraft/minecraft-server-backup). Confirm the culprit before you [ban](https://streethosting.com.br/en/guides/minecraft/ban-player-minecraft-server). ## Frequently asked questions

When does CoreProtect start logging?

From the moment you install it. It cannot recover actions from before the plugin, so install it early. The longer the log, the further back you can roll.

Does a rollback wipe what legitimate players built?

If you filter by the griefer's name and a time range, the rollback only touches their actions. Always specify a player and a period so you do not undo legitimate work.

Does CoreProtect make the server slow?

It uses a database for the logs, and that database grows over time. On large servers, consider an external database and decide how many days of history to keep.

Does CoreProtect replace backups?

No. It reverts player actions, but it does not protect against world corruption or disk failure. Keep automatic backups as a separate layer.
