Six gigabytes can be enough for a light pack; All the Mods asks for double that or more with ten players online. Always leave a twenty percent margin above the measured peak. ## Why modpacks are different[](https://streethosting.com.br/en/guides/minecraft/how-much-ram-does-a-minecraft-modpack-need#por-que-modpack-e-diferente) Every mod adds blocks, entities, recipes and events to the server tick. The player's client loads assets too, but the one who feels it first in the wallet is whoever pays for the host's RAM. That is why a modpack needs a dedicated line like [modpack hosting](https://streethosting.com.br/en/minecraft-modpack), not a plan designed only for vanilla. ## RAM by pack size[](https://streethosting.com.br/en/guides/minecraft/how-much-ram-does-a-minecraft-modpack-need#tabela-por-tamanho) | Category | Examples | Suggested RAM (5 to 10 players) | | -------- | -------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------- | | Light | Better Minecraft (light), small Fabric packs | 6 to 8 GB | | Medium | Enigmatica (light), FTB Skies | 10 to 12 GB | | Heavy | All the Mods 9, Create: Above and Beyond | 12 to 16 GB | | Extreme | Packs with 400+ mods, multiple dimensions | 16 GB or more | Read the pack's official page and add margin. Authors usually list the minimum requirement for singleplayer, not for a public server. ## Players and safety margin[](https://streethosting.com.br/en/guides/minecraft/how-much-ram-does-a-minecraft-modpack-need#jogadores-e-margem) ### Rule of thumb per extra player * Light pack: +300 to 500 MB per online player. * Medium pack: +500 to 800 MB per online player. * Heavy pack: +800 MB to 1 GB per online player. Watch real usage in the control panel during a community event. If RAM stays above eighty-five percent for a sustained period, move up a plan before the next weekend. Can I use exactly 8 GB? Treat the author's number as the minimum for a solo player. Every extra player uses more RAM. Add two to four gigabytes of margin for five to ten simultaneous players. Does Fabric use less RAM than Forge? On average, light Fabric packs use less than equivalent Forge packs, but large packs on any loader still need generous sizing. Does RAM alone fix lag in a modpack? No. A high clock speed CPU, a fast NVMe disk and a moderate view distance matter as much as memory. RAM alone does not make up for a saturated shared host. Next step Modpack hosting Forge and Fabric with RAM sized for heavy packs and fast activation.
