Use **WorldGuard** to create specific zones with PvP on or off, and protect the spawn with a no-combat region. ## Global PvP in server.properties[](https://streethosting.com.br/en/guides/minecraft/minecraft-server-pvp-setup#pvp-global) The simplest way to control PvP is through the **server.properties** file in the server root. Find the line: `pvp=true` Change it to `pvp=false` to turn PvP off across the whole world, then restart the server. With global PvP disabled, no player can attack another anywhere on the map. For community survival servers, consider leaving global PvP off and creating specific combat zones. That keeps new players from being killed before they get established. ## PvP zones with WorldGuard[](https://streethosting.com.br/en/guides/minecraft/minecraft-server-pvp-setup#zonas-pvp) WorldGuard lets you create regions with different PvP rules. It is more flexible than the global setting in server.properties: 1. Select the zone's area with WorldEdit (click opposite corners with the wooden axe). 2. To set up a basic arena: * Build the arena in an area separate from the main world * Create a WorldGuard region with PvP enabled in the arena * Turn off keep-inventory so items drop on death * Create an entry kit for balanced combat * Add a /warp arena warp for easy access Turning off keep-inventory in the arena means players lose any items they bring in from their inventory.
