# VPS payment methods and how fast each one activates

You picked your plan and want the server running now, not tomorrow. The payment method you choose decides whether activation takes one minute or two business days.

Quick answer

To pay for a VPS with Pix, choose the plan, select the billing cycle, pick Pix at checkout and pay with the QR Code generated on the order. Confirmation arrives in seconds and the server is provisioned automatically in **about 60 seconds**. An approved credit card is just as fast and also renews on its own. Boleto is accepted too, but it only releases after bank clearing, which takes 1 to 2 business days.

## Accepted methods and activation time[](https://streethosting.com.br/en/guides/vps/vps-payment-methods-pix-boleto-card#metodos-aceitos)

All three methods end up in the same place: your server online in São Paulo. What changes is how much time passes between clicking pay and your first SSH login. The table sums up the decision.

Before the table, it helps to understand why the difference exists. VPS activation is automatic: as soon as the billing system marks the invoice as paid, a routine creates the virtual machine, allocates the plan's resources, installs the chosen system image, assigns the dedicated IPv4 and emails you the credentials. That process is fast and takes about a minute with any method. What varies is the time until the invoice is marked as paid, and that depends entirely on the payment method you chose.

| Method | Time until the server activates | When to use it |
| ------------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Pix | Seconds to confirm and about 60 seconds to provision | When you want to start now and do not want to register a card |
| Credit card | Immediate once the card issuer approves, same 60 second window | When you want automatic renewal and no suspension from forgetting to pay |
| Boleto (bank slip) | 1 to 2 business days, depending on clearing | When the payment needs a document for the company's finance team |

If you are in a hurry and your internal process requires boleto, a common workaround is to pay the first cycle with Pix to get the environment up today and switch the contract's payment method to boleto before the next renewal.

## Pix: the fastest route[](https://streethosting.com.br/en/guides/vps/vps-payment-methods-pix-boleto-card#pix)

Pix is the default method for anyone buying for the first time. It does not require registering a card, it does not go through a card issuer review and confirmation is practically instant. The whole flow takes five steps.

1. Choose your configuration on the [VPS page](https://streethosting.com.br/en/vps) and set the billing cycle in the selector.
2. Fill in your registration details. Use an email you actually check, because the server's initial credentials are sent to it.
3. Select Pix as the payment method and finish the order.
4. Pay with the QR Code or the copy and paste code shown on the invoice. That code carries the order identifier, which is what makes automatic reconciliation work.
5. Wait on the screen. The invoice status changes to paid and provisioning starts on its own.

Do not pay with a manual Pix transfer to a standalone key thinking it is the same thing. Without the order identifier, the system cannot match the amount to your invoice and activation stays stuck until someone reconciles the payment by hand.

Another practical point about Pix is the code's expiration. The QR Code generated on the invoice usually expires after a while. If you left the tab open for hours and are only paying now, go back to the customer panel and generate the code again from the same invoice. That keeps the identifier correct and avoids an orphaned payment.

Pix also works well for renewals, with one caveat: it is not automatic. Every time the renewal invoice is issued, someone has to open the panel and pay. If the service is critical and you travel, forget things or simply have a lot on your mind, consider keeping a card saved just for recurring billing and continuing to use Pix for new purchases.

## Credit card and how recurring billing works[](https://streethosting.com.br/en/guides/vps/vps-payment-methods-pix-boleto-card#cartao)

With a credit card, approval comes from the card issuer and is usually immediate. The real advantage is not speed, which is similar to Pix, but recurring billing. With the card saved on your account, the next cycle's invoice is charged automatically close to the due date and the service never risks suspension from forgetting to pay.

This matters more than it seems. A server suspended over an overdue invoice takes down your site, bot and game server all at once, and your community notices before you do. If the VPS hosts anything in production, recurring billing on a card is the cheapest way to buy peace of mind.

* **Changing cards:** done in the customer panel, in the payment methods area. The new card applies from the next charge.
* **Canceling recurring billing:** just remove the saved card. Later invoices are still issued and you choose to pay with Pix or boleto.
* **Declined charge:** when the card issuer declines, the invoice stays open and you get an email notice. You can pay the same invoice with Pix without redoing the order.
* **Longer cycles on the card:** quarterly, semiannual and annual cycles can also stay on the card, with a single charge per cycle instead of twelve charges a year.

## Boleto: when it really makes sense[](https://streethosting.com.br/en/guides/vps/vps-payment-methods-pix-boleto-card#boleto)

Boleto survives for a practical reason: the finance department. In a company with an accounts payable process, the boleto becomes the document that circulates internally, goes through the approval flow and closes the accounting entry. If that is your case, boleto is the right choice even though it is the slowest.

Outside that scenario, it tends to get in the way. Clearing takes 1 to 2 business days, and a boleto paid on a Friday near the end of banking hours usually only shows up on Monday or Tuesday. For renewals this is even trickier, because a two day delay right at the due date can mean a suspended service.

There is also a detail that confuses a lot of people: paying a boleto in your bank's app using your Pix balance does not make clearing instant for the recipient. The credit still follows the boleto flow, not the Pix flow. If the goal is to release the server today, choose Pix as the method at checkout instead of issuing a boleto.

If you use boleto on a recurring contract, generate it and pay at least three business days before the invoice due date. That margin covers bank holidays and clearing delays.

## I paid and the server did not activate[](https://streethosting.com.br/en/guides/vps/vps-payment-methods-pix-boleto-card#nao-ativou)

Most of the time the cause is simple and gets fixed in a few minutes. Check in this order before opening a ticket.

1. **Check the invoice status in the panel.** If it shows as pending, the payment has not been recognized yet. If it shows as paid, provisioning is already in progress.
2. **Confirm the payment went through the order code.** A Pix sent to a standalone key or a boleto from another order will not close the right invoice.
3. **Give provisioning a few minutes.** Automatic activation takes around 60 seconds, but the creation queue at peak hours can stretch that.
4. **Check your email, including the spam folder.** The access details, IP and initial password arrive by email as soon as the server comes up.
5. **Check for a pending account verification.** An order with inconsistent details may go into review before it is released.
6. **Open a ticket with the receipt and the order number.** Support is available 24 hours a day in Portuguese and does manual reconciliation when needed.

Do not redo the order to try to unblock activation. That creates a second invoice and complicates reconciliation. A ticket with the receipt resolves it faster.

## What to do after activation[](https://streethosting.com.br/en/guides/vps/vps-payment-methods-pix-boleto-card#depois-da-ativacao)

A server online is only the beginning. The first few minutes decide whether the VPS will be a stable environment or a future headache. The recommended order is to connect, lock down access and only then install the application.

* Log in for the first time and change the initial password by following the guide on [how to access your VPS for the first time over SSH](https://streethosting.com.br/en/guides/vps/connect-to-vps-via-ssh-first-time).
* Confirm that the configuration you bought matches what your project needs. If you are unsure, the math is in [how much VPS I need for my project](https://streethosting.com.br/en/guides/vps/how-much-vps-do-i-need).
* Set the payment method for the next cycle before you forget. If the service is going into production, keep the card saved so renewal happens on its own.

If you are still deciding between the available lines before placing the order, take a look at the [Ryzen line](https://streethosting.com.br/en/vps/ryzen) and the guide on [how to choose a VPS in Brazil](https://streethosting.com.br/en/guides/vps/how-to-choose-a-vps-in-brazil) before paying. Switching plans later is possible, but choosing right the first time saves you a migration.

## Frequently asked questions

Can I pay for a VPS with Pix?

Yes. Pix is the fastest method: confirmation arrives in seconds and the server goes into automatic provisioning right after. In practice the VPS is reachable about 60 seconds after the payment is approved.

How long does the VPS take to activate after payment?

With Pix or an approved credit card, activation is automatic and takes about 60 seconds. With boleto, release depends on bank clearing, which usually takes 1 to 2 business days.

Does paying by credit card renew automatically?

Yes, as long as you keep the card saved on your account. The next cycle is charged automatically close to the due date, which prevents suspension from forgetting to pay. You can remove the card or change the payment method at any time in the panel.

Is it worth paying for a VPS with boleto?

Boleto makes sense when your company needs the document for its accounting or when payments go through a finance department. If you want the server online today, Pix is better, because boleto only releases after clearing.

I paid with Pix and the server is still pending. What do I do?

Check that the payment was made through the QR Code generated on the order itself, because the code carries the invoice identifier. If the money left your account and the order is still pending after a few minutes, open a ticket with the receipt and the order number and support will reconcile it manually.
